Shenyang Jianzhu University (website) is a provincial and university-level higher education institution featuring architecture, civil engineering and other disciplines. It is mainly based on engineering and multi-disciplinary development. It was originally affiliated to the Ministry of Construction. In 2000, it was placed under the adjustment of the national management system. Provincial management, in 2010, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Liaoning Provincial People’s Government jointly established universities.
The school’s existing architecture, urban and rural planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, five doctoral degrees authorized first-level disciplines, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, two post-doctoral research stations, 16 master’s degree authorized first-level disciplines, 15 A master’s degree is authorized. The school is recommended to study for outstanding undergraduate graduates. In the fourth round of the first-level discipline evaluation in the country, the overall ranking of the school discipline ranked first in the Liaoning Province’s science and engineering colleges. The school has 16 colleges (teaching departments), 15 directly affiliated scientific research institutions, and 4 directly affiliated scientific research platforms. The undergraduate education of the school consists of 24 majors in 7 categories, with a total of 47 majors. In September 2006, it passed the assessment of the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education with the score of “excellent”. Civil engineering, mechanical design and manufacturing and automation have passed engineering education certification. Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning, Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering, Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering and Engineering Management have passed the Ministry of Housing and Construction’s professional education assessment (certification) for the longest period of validity. Six majors were rated as national-level specialty construction points, and seven majors were approved for the first batch of general higher education undergraduate majors in Liaoning Province. Among the 30 majors in the comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors in Liaoning Province, 7 of the schools ranked first and 23 ranked in the top five. Three teaching teams were rated as national teaching teams, and two courses were rated as national quality courses. Our school is the implementation of the National Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program by the Ministry of Education, and the National College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program is implemented in universities. The school has three national technology transfer demonstration institutions, national and local joint laboratories, and three national-level science and technology platforms, three national-level engineering practice education centers, and one national-level professional degree postgraduate joint training base, one National-level university students’ off-campus practice education base, one national-level talent training model innovation pilot zone, 11 provincial-level key disciplines, 37 provincial-level key laboratories (engineering technology research centers), 24 provincial-level experimental centers and practice base. Our students have won more than 1,000 awards in national-level academic competitions since the 12th Five-Year Plan. They have won the first prize of the CT18 International Student High-rise Architectural Design Competition in 2018, the first prize of the National College Student Mechanical Innovation Design Competition, and the Chinese graduate student. The first prize in the electronic design competition, the silver medal in the 2018 “Creating Youth” National Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Competition. Three students won the 2014 and 2015 China Self-reliance Star Awards. The school is one of the pilot units for training high-level athletes as determined by the Ministry of Education. The initial employment rate of undergraduate and postgraduate graduates from 2002 to 2018 is among the best in Liaoning Province.
Since the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, the school has received a total of 1.265 billion yuan in science and technology, and accumulated more than 3,800 scientific research projects, including the “13th Five-Year Plan” national key R&D plan “New method and technology synergy for green design of high-rise public buildings in the northern region” “Efficient reinforcement and performance design theory of precast concrete components” “Research and development of digital pre-constructed concrete digital intelligent precision fabric technology and equipment” “Research on key technologies of coupling application of renewable energy and energy storage technology” and “National Fund Key Project” There are more than 1,300 national-level projects and provincial-level projects, including the theory of life-cycle design for structural anti-disaster effects, and the theory and method of green design for public buildings in cold regions. Among them, “Liaodong Bay Campus Project of Dalian University of Technology” won the first prize of National Excellent Engineering Survey and Design Industry Award, “Single-drive indexable composite cutting parts for stone processing” “A national patent gold award. Published papers were included in more than 2,200 articles in the “Three Major Searches”, many of which were published in top international journals such as Nature Geoscience. According to the national technical market statistics, the schools ranked 13th, 12th and 13th respectively in the list of China’s university production, research and research strength in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The school has now undertaken more than 320 national and provincial education reform projects, and the achievements of the education reform have won more than 130 national and provincial awards. The university has established inter-university exchanges or scientific research and cooperative education with more than 60 universities in more than 40 countries and regions including the University of Miami, the University of Technology Sydney, the University of Technology, and the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. The selected domestic visiting scholars are the first batch of schools in the country that can be enrolled by foreign students. It is a Chinese government scholarship to recruit students from overseas universities. It is a college student for foreign students studying in Liaoning Province. The high-level talent training base and the Liaoning Provincial Cadre Education and Training Base, the school’s master’s degree program in information management jointly organized by the University of Benedictine is a demonstration project of the base. “China-Finland (Nordic) Wood Structure Energy-saving and Environmentally-friendly Villa Construction Demonstration Project” and “Sino-German Energy Conservation Demonstration Center” have built a high-end international technology cooperation platform. The school established the Confucius Institute with the University of Tuscany, Romania.
The main campus of the university is located in Weinan District of Shenyang, covering an area of 1,500 mu and a building area of 500,000 square meters. The planning and design of the main campus reflects the concept of people-oriented and harmonious symbiosis with nature. The architectural form is modern, simple, concise and complete with functional facilities. The teaching area is a combination of a network format and a courtyard with oriental cultural heritage, which is conducive to resource sharing and academic exchanges.
