Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute (JCI) is the only multi-disciplinary undergraduate college in China named for ceramics. Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute was formerly known as the Chinese Ceramics Academy, founded in 1910; Jiangxi Provincial Ceramics College was established in 1947, becoming one of the five colleges in Jiangxi Province at that time; Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute was established in 1958 as a general undergraduate institution. One of the eight undergraduate colleges of light industry affiliated to the former Ministry of Light Industry.
