Introduction to Qiandongnan National Polytechnic
Qiandongnan National Polytechnic (黔东南民族职业技术学院) was approved by the People’s Government of Guizhou Province in August 2001 and filed by the Ministry of Education. It was officially established in May 2002 as a public full-time general higher vocational college. The overall relocation of the college in August 2012 ended the history of running schools on four campuses and entered a new period of development-starting a new journey towards the goals of national-level universities and first-class vocational colleges in the western region.
——The Guizhou Southeast Guizhou National Agricultural School was established in March 1956, and offers agronomy, animal husbandry, soil fertilizer, fruit trees, horticulture, plant protection, and biotechnology.
——Medical School of Southeast Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Qiandongnan was founded in November 1958 in a historical and cultural town. In December 1987, the new site was decided to break ground on the beautiful Jinquan Lake in Kaili City. In March 1991, some teachers and students moved to the new campus in Kaili, and the relocation was completed in September 1995. In August 2000, it became a “Key Provincial and Secondary Technical Secondary School”. In March 2001, it was evaluated as a “National Key Technical Secondary School” by the Ministry of Education. It mainly provides nursing, clinical, and pharmacy majors.
——The Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture Finance and Trade School was established in 1963, closed in 1966, and resumed in 1975. The provincial government approved it in November 1977. The Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture Finance and Trade Cadre School was renamed as the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture Finance and Trade School. The school is located in Ximahe, Kaili City, and mainly offers majors in financial accounting, financial management, marketing, computerized accounting, and computer applications.
——The Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture National Forestry School was established with the approval of the People’s Government of Guizhou Province in 1986. It was completed in September 1988, and enrollment began in the same year. In September 1994, with the approval of the State People ’s Government, Qiandongnan Prefecture Forest Technology School (established in September 1980) was merged into the Qiandongnan Prefecture National Forest School, which concentrated people, finances, materials, and reorganized the two schools to implement the “two brands” “One team, one set of management agencies” management mode, mainly provides forest science, forestry economic management and other majors. In 1994, the National Forty-third Skills Appraisal Station was established and established in the Qiandongnan Prefecture National Forest School to conduct professional skill appraisals specific to the forestry industry.
Four secondary technical schools have established majors covering four major industry systems, and trained a large number of professionals in medical, health, forestry, agriculture, and finance for Southeastern Guizhou, and have gradually become the professional and technical backbone of the four major industries. A large number of graduates have gone to the bureaus directly under the State. And the county (city) bureaus, stations, institutes, and hospitals have made significant contributions to advancing the economic and social development of Southeastern Guizhou.
For a period of time after the establishment of the college, Qiandongnan National Polytechnic operated in the campuses of the former four secondary technical schools. On May 11, 2007, the fourth governor’s office meeting of the Qiandongnan Prefecture People’s Government studied and agreed on the site selection plan for the new campus of the Qiandongnan Ethnic Vocational and Technical College, and decided to relocate to the Kaili Economic Development Zone as a whole. On March 11, 2008, the Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission approved Guizhou Development and Reform Construction (2008) No. 248, and was reviewed and approved by the first meeting of the 11th National People’s Congress of Guizhou Province. The Qiandongnan Vocational and Technical College Relocation Project was listed as Guizhou in 2008 Provincial key construction projects. The planned campus of the new campus of the college covers an area of 1503 acres, with a total construction area of 345,480 square meters and a total investment of 68,751,100 yuan. The first phase of the project covers an area of 960 acres, with a building area of 300,000 square meters and an investment of 587 million yuan. The overall relocation in August 2012 ended the history of running schools on four campuses, and the college construction and development entered a new historical period.
Qiandongnan National Polytechnic inherits the fine tradition of “Four Schools”, adheres to the vocational education policy of “service-oriented, employment-oriented, and the combination of production, learning and research”, highlights vocational characteristics, and strives to create a university culture.
