Introduction to Guizhou Radio and TV University

Guizhou Radio and TV University (贵州广播电视大学、贵州职业技术学院) was established in 1979. It was organized by the Guizhou Provincial People’s Government according to the instructions of Comrade Deng Xiaoping and was independently established by the Ministry of Education. Guizhou Vocational and Technical College was founded in 2008. Guizhou Radio and Television University and Guizhou Vocational and Technical College implement a management model of “two brands, one team and one staff”. It is a new university integrating open education, vocational education, and lifelong education.

The school is located in Guiyang, with convenient transportation and beautiful environment. There are three campuses of Bageyan Road, South Yuntan Road and West Yan’an Road, covering an area of 639.9 acres and a building area of nearly 200,000 square meters. The school has 493 faculty members, including 138 teachers with senior professional titles, accounting for 45.8%; 172 doctors and masters, accounting for 57.1%; and 181 dual-qualified teachers, accounting for 60.13%. There are 5 provincial famous teachers. There are more than 500 part-time teacher resource banks, and 7 foreign teachers from the United States, Britain and other countries have been employed for front-line teaching. The library has nearly 400,000 paper books and more than 10,000 GB of electronic books. There are standardized stadiums and halls, advanced distance education information platform, interactive teaching platform, rich online teaching resources and complete learning support service system. The school has 19 internal training bases and 220 external training bases. It has set up the 100th National Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute in Guizhou Province, and can conduct 67 junior, middle and senior professional job appraisals for both inside and outside the school. The school has developed into a modern new university with complete facilities, complete functions, advanced equipment and beautiful surroundings.

Guizhou Radio and TV University has established 10 TVU branches and 87 workstations in the province, city, state and industry, forming a distance education school system covering the province. The school aims to deeply cultivate Guizhou and serve local economic and social development. It has continuously expanded the field of running schools, established a school-government-business cooperation platform for running schools, and innovated the mode of talent training. There are currently 82 open education majors and 33 vocational education majors. Focus on the construction of four provincial key disciplines in e-commerce, construction engineering technology, tourism management, and software technology, and two school-level key disciplines in art design, mechanical manufacturing and automation, forming modern commodity circulation, modern construction engineering, tourism services and management3 Provincial key professional groups. There are more than 100,000 students of various types, including 11,333 vocational students, and more than 400,000 graduates have been trained. Among them, the initial employment rate of vocational education graduates has remained stable at more than 97% for three consecutive years. Satisfaction with the alma mater averaged over 95%, and the employer satisfaction rate reached over 93% for three consecutive years. The number of non-degree continuing education and training has exceeded 1.5 million. The school has become an important base for cultivating high-quality technical skills in the province.

Guizhou Radio and TV University has made important contributions to Guizhou’s economic and social development, has been recognized by the society, and has been affirmed in all aspects. In 2007, he was outstanding in the summary evaluation of the “Central TV University Talent Training Model Reform and Open Education Pilot Project”. In 2014, it became the research base of humanities and social sciences of higher education institutions in Guizhou Province. In 2016, the “Guizhou Community Education Guidance Service Center” was listed on our school. In 2017, it became a provincial-level pilot unit for the construction of “credit bank” for lifelong education in Guizhou Province. Project units of high-quality higher vocational colleges have also won “National Advanced Adult Higher Education School”, “National Adult Higher Education Evaluation Excellent School”, “National Advanced Educational School”, “National Provincial RTVU Teaching Advanced Unit”, “National Civilized Unit” “Guizhou Green University”, “Guizhou Safe and Civilized Campus”, “Guizhou Provincial Excellent School of Ideological and Political Education” and “Provincial Advanced Employment Unit”.

The campus culture of the school is colorful, and our students have repeatedly won awards in various skill competitions, campus cultural activity months, and sports competitions in the province and the country. The school has joined the “UNESCO Open Distance Education Sister University Network”, and has carried out teacher-student cooperation and exchanges with Taiwan’s Universal University of Science and Technology, Jianguo University of Science and Technology, Southeast University, Canada’s Kanada College, and Thailand’s Gree University. The school started to recruit international students in 2016. Currently, there are 34 international students from 8 countries including Laos and Russia.

Guizhou Radio and TV University fulfills the school running function of serving the society. Under the strategic deployment of Guizhou Province in decisive battles to fight poverty, and to achieve a simultaneous well-off society, the school party committee insists on precision poverty alleviation as a political responsibility, assembles its elite forces, mobilizes all resources, devotes all its energy, and strives to improve education assistance, industrial assistance, In the past three years, the school has recruited 1,266 targeted poverty alleviation students, invested 6.4 million yuan in aid funds, and purchased 276 million yuan worth of poverty-stricken areas from schools and farmers. Agricultural products, the development of industrial poverty alleviation, driven 163 poor households to increase their income and lift poverty, and cultivated 12,000 new-type professional farmers. The party branch of the school’s party committee organization department was awarded the honorary title of the advanced party organization in poverty alleviation by the provincial party committee of the CPC Guizhou Province.
