Hunan Food and Drug Vocational College (湖南食品药品职业学院) is a full-time higher education institution established and approved by the Hunan Provincial People’s Government. It is under the supervision of the Provincial Food and Drug Administration and the education business is managed by the Provincial Department of Education. Formerly known as the Hunan Medical Secondary Professional School, the college was founded in 1979 and has been awarded the “National Advanced Collective for Medical System”, “National Advanced Collective for Medical Education”, “Excellent Unit for Teaching in Hunan Province”, and “Advanced Unit for Enrollment and Employment in Hunan Province”, “Changsha City Civilized Unit” and other honors.
Hunan Food and Drug Vocational College currently has 3 campuses including Hanpu, Guitang and Dongjing in Changsha, covering a total area of 357 acres and a building area of 151,000 square meters. Among them, the Hanpu New Campus was put into use in 2012, covers an area of 303 acres, and has complete teaching and living facilities. The college currently has 329 faculty members, including 203 teachers, 80 senior titles, 101 intermediate titles, and 80 dual-teacher teachers. In terms of education structure, there are 285 teachers with a bachelor’s degree or above, accounting for 90% of the total number of teachers; 58 teachers with a master’s degree or above, accounting for 29% of the total number of teachers; in the structure of professional titles, there are currently 76 teachers with a subordinate or higher professional title, accounting for 90% of the total. 37% of the total number of teachers. After quoting and cultivating, it has now established a team of teachers with middle-aged and young teachers as the main body, academic qualifications, professional titles, professional structure, and comprehensive quality. The college has 134 experimental training rooms such as GMP simulated pharmaceutical workshop, GSP simulated pharmacy, 25 integrated training rooms on campus, and 112 external practice training bases.
Hunan Food and Drug Vocational College has established pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese medicine production and processing, pharmaceutical production technology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, pharmaceutical quality and safety, pharmaceutical equipment application technology, pharmaceutical service and management, pharmaceutical operation and management, medical device operation and management. Management, food quality and safety, food nutrition and testing, food and drug supervision and management of 13 majors, of which pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine are the major support construction of the state. At present, there are three major professional groups, including drug manufacturing and service, Chinese medicine and health, food safety and nutrition, and more than 6,000 students. The only vocational skill appraisal institute in the province’s pharmaceutical industry is located in our hospital. It is responsible for the vocational skills training and appraisal of the pharmaceutical industry in the province. It is the designated training base for high-skilled talents in the pharmaceutical industry in our province.
Hunan Food and Drug Vocational College has established a stable joint school and school-enterprise cooperation training model with Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Central South University, Hunan Agricultural University, Central Radio and Television University, and other outstanding industry companies. A multi-level school structure with junior colleges and undergraduates coexisting with high technology.
Hunan Food and Drug Vocational College insists on serving students’ internships and employment needs. Currently, it cooperates with Hunan People’s Pharmaceutical Chain Co., Ltd., Hunan Qianjin Sands Pharmacy Retail Chain Co., Ltd., Hunan Kangpu Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Neptune Health Pharmacy Chain Co., Ltd., Hunan Branch Yuan Medical Equipment Sales Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Federal Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Lizhu Group Co., Ltd. and other companies have established in-depth school-enterprise cooperation models, established talent supply and demand relationships with more than 300 pharmaceutical companies, and graduates from Hunan, Guangdong, Shanghai, etc. Local medical and health industry, the employment rate reached 95%.
After more than 30 years of accumulation, the college has established a highly-skilled personnel training system for pharmacy, medical equipment, and food specialty.
