Changchun Automobile Industry Institute (长春汽车工业高等专科学校) was founded in 1952. It was formerly known as the Changchun Automobile Technical School established by China FAW, and is the first school in China specialized in training talents for the automotive industry. Full-time college education was launched in 1979, and in 2009 it was placed under the management of Changchun Municipal Government of China FAW.
Changchun Automobile Industry Institute is located in Changchun Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone. It covers an area of 540,000 square meters and a building area of 273,000 square meters. It recruits students from 28 provinces across the country. The admission rate has been stable for more than 90% for many years. There are nearly 10,000 full-time students, 511 full-time teachers, and teachers with associate professors or above account for 37.2% of full-time teachers. The in-depth cooperation coverage of professional schools and enterprises is 100%. The teaching coverage rate is 100%, and the alternate practice teaching with 100% coverage for half-year post-employment practice achieves a deep integration of production and education. As a training base for overseas talents of FAW, more than 120 graduates accompanied Chinese automotive products to the world, and made outstanding contributions to the development of the automotive industry in countries along the “Belt and Road”.
At present, nearly 80,000 graduates cultivated by Changchun Automobile Industry Institute have become indispensable talents for the development of the new China automobile industry. Among them, two graduates of Wang Hongjun and Qi Songyu have won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress, which is a front-line worker in China. A large number of graduates, such as Li Kaijun, have become elites of industry companies, top-notch technical skills, and won honorary titles such as the National Model Worker and National May 1st Labor Medal.
