Introduction to Beijing Polytechnic
The history of Beijing Polytechnic (北京电子科技职业学院, website) can be traced back to the Beijing Post and Telecommunications Industry School established in 1958. In 1999, Beijing Light Industry Vocational and Technical College was established. In 2004, it merged with Beijing Post and Telecommunications Industry School and changed its name to Beijing Polytechnic. In March 2007, with the approval of the Beijing Municipal Government, Beijing Instrumentation Industrial School, Beijing Second Light Industry School, Beijing Mechanical Industry School, Beijing Automotive Industry School merged with Beijing Electronic Technology Vocational College to establish a new Beijing Electronic Technology Vocational College . In August 2015, the school was relocated to the Yizhuang campus as a whole, the only university in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone.
Beijing Polytechnic’s main school indicators and comprehensive school strength are at the forefront of similar institutions in China. The school is one of the 100 vocational demonstration schools in the country, a national high vocational education comprehensive reform experimental zone construction unit, and one of the first batch of 100 modern apprenticeship pilot universities in the country. In 2015, it took the lead in launching the Beijing Municipality’s high-tech technical personnel through-training reform experiment. In 2018, it entered the ranks of high-level vocational colleges with special characteristics in Beijing. In 2018 and 2019, the Ministry of Education was consecutively rated as one of the top 50 in vocational colleges in internship management, 50 in teaching management, and 50 in student management. In 2019, it will enter the national level A colleges of the Ministry of Education’s high-level vocational schools with Chinese characteristics and professional construction planning project (“Double High”).
The school covers an area of 807 acres, with a building area of 336,000 square meters. The school has 6 national training bases, 18 productive training bases, 260 off-campus practice bases and 2 pilot test bases in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. It has built a network learning space training base for the principals and key teachers of vocational colleges across the country, and an off-campus teaching base for the National Institute of Education Administration. It has built professional gymnasiums, swimming pools and stadiums. In 2016, it successfully hosted the 54th Beijing Universiade. The library has a construction area of 27,000 square meters, a collection of 1.2 million books, and 1.7 million electronic books. It supports teaching and scientific research and is open to the whole society.
Beijing Polytechnic offers 44 majors in six categories: mechanical and electrical, automotive and transportation, art and design, electronics and information, food and biology, and economics and management. There are seven secondary colleges including the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Telecommunications Engineering, the School of Bioengineering, the School of Art and Design, the School of Economics and Management, and the School of Basic Studies, as well as the three teaching units of Bachelor’s College, College of Continuing Education, and Department of Ideological and Political Theory . The school implements full-time higher vocational education, through-training education, non-commissioned education, vocational training, adult diploma education and other composite student sources and multi-education education. Since its establishment, it has accumulated more than 100,000 highly-skilled talents for the society.
Beijing Polytechnic currently has 6,557 full-time students, including 4,977 vocational students and 1,580 students. In recent years, our students have won the top prizes in national vocational skills competitions, innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, college student robotics competitions, college student electronic design competitions, the American Society of Automotive Engineers Baha, the Belt and Road Initiative and the BRICS Skills Competition. .
Beijing Polytechnic currently has 865 faculty members, including 529 full-time teachers. With 29 professional titles, 188 associate senior titles, 80.05% of teachers with dual qualifications, 76 doctors, and 466 masters. There are 5 outstanding teachers in the country, 21 outstanding teachers in Beijing, 4 academic innovation talents and young talents in Beijing universities, 16 teaching teachers in Beijing, 4 vocational teachers, and 1 high-tech teacher. Has a national teaching team, 10 municipal excellent teaching team. In the past five years, teachers have won 23 national and municipal vocational education teaching achievement awards, and in the past three years, they have won 10 first prizes in national vocational college teachers’ teaching ability (informatization teaching) competitions. The total number of school awards has ranked first in the country for three consecutive years.
