Yunnan Minzu University (云南民族大学, website) is a comprehensive university cultivating senior professional talents of various nationalities. It is a provincial key university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province. The school was founded on August 1, 1951, and was formerly known as the Yunnan University for Nationalities. It was one of the earliest colleges and universities for nationalities in the People’s Republic of China. In April 2003, it was renamed Yunnan University for Nationalities. Since its establishment, the school has always been highly valued and cared for by party and state leaders.
