Position Summary:
The Secondary English Specialist Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering a specialized English Language Arts program in collaboration with other Secondary English teachers and school administration. This position will involve both push-in and pull-out instructional models, with the goal of enriching and extending the learning experiences of advanced English language learners. Through the provision of extensions to the mainstream English Language Arts courses in Grades 6 to 9, students will be prepared for advanced English curricula in Grades 10 to 12.
Responsibilities:
Enrich and extend the English Language Arts curriculum for students in Grades 6-9 who demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in the mainstream program
Develop and implement specialized lesson plans, assignments, and assessments to challenge and engage advanced English language learners
Support identified students in groups through both push-in and pull-out models
Collaborate with mainstream English teachers to ensure seamless integration of the extension program
Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and school administration
Maintain detailed records of student performance and submit reports as required
Participate in department and school-wide meetings and professional development activities
Lead or co-sponsor an activity within the After-school Activities program related to English Language Arts, e.g., public speaking, debate, Model UN, TEDx
Perform other duties as assigned to support the development of students who demonstrate advanced levels of English in Grades 6 to 9

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field
Degree in education at the undergraduate or graduate level
Valid teaching certification or license
Minimum 5 years of experience teaching secondary-level English
Native English speaker
Demonstrated success in working with advanced English language learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Salary Range: According to the Approved CIS Teacher Salary Scale
