Job Title: Secondary Music Band Teacher

Job Overview:
As a Secondary Music Band Teacher, you are expected to contribute to our Wind Orchestra program at CISGZ. This engaging program caters to learners from grade 7 to grade 12 and encompasses wind instruments and percussion. As an Alberta-accredited teacher, you will play a key part in shaping the musical journey of secondary students, fostering a collaborative and inspiring environment within our dynamic music program.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging music band lessons for secondary students in accordance with Alberta Program of Studies, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Lead and conduct rehearsals for various instrumental ensembles, fostering teamwork and musical excellence.
Plan and coordinate performances, competitions, and events showcasing the achievements of the music band.
Use English as the exclusive language of instruction, implement differentiated teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
Maintain regular and effective communication with parents regarding student progress, activities, and school events. Foster strong partnerships with parents to support the holistic development of each student.
Provide emotional support, personal assistance and tutoring for all student residents.
Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
Order supplies, assess maintenance needs, and assist in room assignments.
Collaborate with other teachers to ensure a cohesive and integrated curriculum.
Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices.
Attend staff meetings as required.
Contribute to the organization and participation in school events, field trips, and other related activities.
Contribute expertise and passion to After School Activities (ASAs), actively participating in planning and facilitating engaging extracurricular programs for student enrichment and holistic development.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education with a specialization in Music Education or a related field.
Alberta teaching certification (for information, visit ).
Familiarity with Alberta Secondary Music curriculum.
Proven experience in teaching and conducting secondary-level music bands.
Strong understanding of student development, educational psychology, and effective teaching methodologies.
Ability to maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated passion for fostering a love of learning in students.
Knowledge and application of strategies for meeting diverse learning needs.
Adaptable, innovative, and committed to continuous improvement and student success.
