Xi’an Hanova International School (HIS), China, would like to invite applications for this very exciting opportunity to join our pedagogical team from August 2025. Our school has opened its new campus that offer our learning community unsurpassed facilities and resources in its sports programmes after COVID.

Founded in 2012, Xi’an Hanova International School is a community-driven, not-for-profit school, actively supported by the regional government authorities and providing high quality education for the international community in Central and Western China. The school maintains an admissions philosophy that is both inclusive and selective; As a not-for-profit school, the students’ welfare is of paramount importance and therefore our student enrolment is steadily but naturally increasing.

The required PHE teacher will encourage students to be physically active and to make healthy life choices. We divide the curriculum into practical and theoretical components. In the practical components students participate in different sports and activities, in the theoretical components students learn about the importance of a healthy balanced lifestyle and how this may be achieved. Throughout the curriculum the value of communication and interpersonal skills are stressed to ensure the student’s healthy personal development.

The ideal candidate would also be qualified and experienced in supervising students in our swimming facilities. PHE is an important learning area in the Middle Years Programme. The teacher has to follow all our MYP policies, follow assessment guidelines and collaborate efficiently with all other MYP teachers.

Additional duty:
Here, our new campus has offered outstanding opportunities for sports and health activities for our learning community. With its overall 60,000 sq. metres, the new campus features a full length running track and full-size football field, an indoor gymnasium with two full-size basketball courts, two swimming pools – one for Primary and one 25m pool for Secondary, as well as many other facilities.

Our school currently offers PYP PE classes, MYP PHE classes Years 7 to 11 – we need a Director of Sports to oversee and coordinate these classes so that the school can achieve a curriculum continuum from kindergarten to IB Diploma.

The ideal candidate therefore would have knowledge and experience in these programmes and would be able to pro-actively support our DP CAS programme with innovation and energy. Furthermore, sports management background/experiences is demanded.

Besides a certain teaching capacity, the position also requires someone who has experience in organizing local sporting tournaments and who be able to act as the school’s ACAMIS (Association of Chinese and Mongolian International Schools) representative to enable our students to compete across the region. Given the swimming facilities, being a certified swimming coach and/or lifeguard would be beneficial as well.
