Gannan Normal University (GNNU), located in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is a provincial undergraduate teacher training college, a first-class discipline construction college in Jiangxi Province, listed as a publicly funded teacher training college in Jiangxi Province, and a host institution for Chinese Government Scholarship, International Chinese Teachers’ Scholarship, and Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship students.
The school was founded in June 1958 as Gannan Normal College; in 1984, it was renamed as Gannan Normal College and upgraded to a provincial undergraduate teacher training college; in March 2016, it was renamed as Gannan Normal University with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
As of March 2022, the university has three campuses in Jinjin, Zhanggong and Baita (University Science and Technology Park), covering an area of nearly 2,300 mu, with a building area of 850,000 square meters and a library collection of more than 2.38 million books; it has 18 teaching units, one independent college, one affiliated middle school, two affiliated elementary school and one affiliated kindergarten, and offers 67 undergraduate majors; it has 17 master’s degree points in first-level disciplines and 11 professional degree points. There are more than 1,200 full-time teachers and more than 21,000 full-time students, including more than 2,000 postgraduates.
