Beijing Information Science and Technology University (北京信息科技大学, website) was formed by the merger of the Beijing Institute of Machinery Industry, formerly the Ministry of Machinery and the Beijing Information Engineering Institute, formerly the Ministry of Electronics. In the history of running schools for more than 80 years, the universities have formed distinctive information characteristics, industry characteristics, and military characteristics.

The university currently has 5 campuses, located in Haidian District and Chaoyang District; the Changping New Campus, covering an area of 1,183 acres, will be fully constructed in 2018 and basically completed in 2020. The university currently has 10,909 full-time undergraduates, 1,587 graduate students, and 164 international students. It has 4 national-level specialty construction sites and 9 Beijing-specific specialty construction sites. Beijing’s universities and colleges are among the first batch of “first-class majors”. Engineering education major certification, two majors were approved by the Ministry of Education as “pilot programs for comprehensive reform of undergraduate majors in local universities”. It has 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 national university students’ off-site practical education base, 1 national engineering practice education center construction unit, 5 Beijing experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 5 off-campus talent training bases. He won one second prize of national education and teaching achievements, and was selected as the first batch of Beijing’s deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform demonstration universities. For seven consecutive years, it has hosted robot competitions for college students in five provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) in North China. The employment rate of undergraduates has ranked among the top three universities in the city for six consecutive years. Graduates have strong employment competitiveness and high starting salaries, and have been widely praised by employers.

Beijing Information Science and Technology University currently has 13 first-level master’s degree programs and 6 professional master’s degree authorized types. It has two high-tech disciplines in Beijing, one high-tech discipline in Beijing with Beijing University of Science and Technology, and one discipline with Tsinghua University. 26 provincial and ministerial-level key laboratories, including 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 1 Beijing laboratory, 6 key laboratories in Beijing, 3 Beijing international science and technology cooperation bases, and 1 Beijing philosophy and social science research base 1, Beijing University Engineering Center. Beijing Information Science and Technology University has achieved outstanding results in the fields of next-generation information technology, intelligent manufacturing, and defense and military industries. The total funding for scientific research has increased significantly for 10 consecutive years. Talls Information Technology Co., Ltd. is the first listed company in Beijing-owned universities. Beijing Information Science and Technology University has a School of International Exchange, which actively expands the scale of education for international students and improves the quality of education for international students. It has established inter-university cooperative relations with more than one hundred (foreign) colleges and universities and is one of the first members of the “Belt and Road” China-Poland University Alliance. 13 foreign university presidents were hired as honorary members of the academic committee of the university, Mundell and 49 world-renowned scholars were appointed as honorary professors, and Tsinghua University and Cambridge University took the lead in setting up a joint laboratory for international cooperation in advanced optoelectronic technology. The System Discipline Innovation and Induction Base was selected into the National “111 Plan”.
