Introduction to Changchun Guanghua University

Changchun Guanghua University (长春光华学院, website), formerly known as Guanghua College of Changchun University. Founded in 2000. In 2004, it was recognized by the Ministry of Education as the first independent college of undergraduate level. In 2013, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be converted into an independent private undergraduate college. In 2015, it was identified as a pilot university for the overall transformation of the province into an application-oriented undergraduate college by the Education Department of Jilin Province. In 2019, it was rated as a model university for transformation and development in Jilin Province by the Education Department of Jilin Province, and successfully passed the qualification assessment of undergraduate teaching by the Ministry of Education.

Changchun Guanghua University has a business school, a school of finance, a school of electrical information, a school of mechanical engineering, a school of foreign languages, a school of literature and journalism, a school of film, a school of visual arts design, a school of music, a football school, a school of Marxism, a school of innovation and entrepreneurship, There are 14 colleges (departments) in the Department of Basic Teaching and Research, and the Department of Public Foreign Languages Teaching and Research, with 45 undergraduate majors, which belong to the seven disciplines of economics, management, engineering, literature, art, science, and education. Changchun Guanghua University currently has 4 provincial-level specialty high-level majors (2 in category A and 2 in category B), 7 provincial-level majors, 1 provincial undergraduate brand major, and 3 provincial-level specialty construction sites. 5 excellent teaching teams, 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 provincial talent training model innovation experimental areas, 2 provincial “golden courses”, 30 provincial excellent courses, 30 excellent courses. During the nearly 20 years of school running, Changchun Guanghua University has adjusted its talent training orientation and talent training specifications in a timely manner, and gradually cultivated and formed distinctive school characteristics. The School of Electrical and Information Technology of the University and ZTE, ChinaSoft International, Neusoft Group, and Taiwan Sunplus jointly implement an “enterprise embedded” talent training model. Upon enrollment, students can sign employment guarantee agreements with the enterprise. Schools and enterprises jointly invest in the construction of laboratories and training rooms, and enterprises participate in the teaching process. The school curriculum and corporate curriculum are carried out in cross-section, the theory and practice are implemented simultaneously, and professional learning is aligned with corporate practice, truly connecting the technological frontier and talent needs of the enterprise.

For some majors of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Business School and other colleges, we organize the third and fourth grade students to go to Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong enterprises for in-depth production first-line apprenticeships or short-term post-training internships, so that students can exercise their skills and increase their knowledge in a real working environment.

Based on the characteristics of the profession and the development trend of the industry, the School of Visual Arts and Design introduces a corporate training room on the campus, and gives the projects of the design enterprise to the students to complete, allowing students to learn by doing practical projects to improve their professional knowledge and skills.

The School of Finance cooperates with more than 10 companies including Bank of China, Shenzhen Guotai’an Information Technology Co., Ltd., and Agricultural Bank of China to build a school-enterprise cooperation base;

The School of Literature and Journalism and Communication cooperates with the National Advertising Industrial Park of Jilin Province, Changchun Golden Key Psychological Counseling Service Center, Changchun Xinyuan International Education and other units;

The School of Foreign Languages cooperates with Changchun Xinyuan Education Training School, Beijing Capital Airport Langham Hotel, Dalian Wobang International Education and other units;

The Film Academy cooperates with Phoenix Satellite TV, China News Agency Jilin Branch, Northeast Asia (TV) Information Station, China Film Group, Jilin Province Museum and other units;

The Conservatory of Music cooperates with Changchun Fanxing Culture Communication Co., Ltd., Changchun Casio Art School and other units, and conducts employment cooperation with more than 100 household units;

The Football Academy cooperated with Changchun Yatai Football Club, Changchun Temple Xiangshan Ski Co., Ltd. and other units to establish teaching and training bases. In cooperation with Changchun Novi Vasa Management Co., Ltd., the Ice and Snow Sports Industry College was established.

The university attaches great importance to the work of innovation and entrepreneurship, and is committed to driving employment with entrepreneurship, influencing employment with entrepreneurship, and improving the practice rate and quality of employment of college students. The school has established an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center and issued relevant documents to ensure the development of dual innovation work; at the same time, it has established innovation and entrepreneurship courses to provide guidance to students; encourage exploration and support practice.

The university has set up a university student science and technology entrepreneurial park, which can meet the different needs of university students ‘innovation and entrepreneurship, practice sharing, and negotiation and cooperation, and greatly support students’ innovation and entrepreneurship, and help students achieve results hatching.

Changchun Guanghua University has established intercollegiate cooperation and exchange relationships with a number of universities in more than a dozen countries and regions. In the 2016-2017 school year alone, it has worked with California State University Northridge, University of California, Davis, Washington College, Nine universities including Washington University, Northwestern University of Seattle, University of Central Lancashire, St. Lawrence College of Canada, Hannam University of Korea, and Daren University of Science and Technology of Taiwan have signed MOUs for cooperation, carried out mutual recognition of credits, short-term exchanges, and jointly trained undergraduate Degree programs and undergraduate programs. In order to enrich the students’ vacation life, improve their language practice and application ability, and enhance their employment competitiveness, they have conducted paid summer internships and study tours to the United States and Japan with the China Foreign Friendship Service Center and the United States Travel Service. Each year, an average of about 50 students are sent to study abroad, which provides a good platform for further education and employment of our students.

The university has jointly trained master students with Northeast Normal University, Changchun University of Technology, and Changchun University, and has now become the MPAcc education training base for Northeast Normal University. The school was approved by the Jilin Provincial Degree Committee in 2017 as a master’s degree authorized unit to establish a university.
