Introduction to Changzhi Medical College

Changzhi Medical College (长治医学院) is a full-time general medical college in Shanxi Province. It is located in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, known as the red capital and charming city. It is an important base for personnel training, medical services and medical research, and a main window for foreign exchanges and cooperation.

Changzhi Medical College was founded in 1946 and is one of the earliest medical schools established by the Communist Party of China. In 1948, it was renamed “Bethune International Medical College for Peace”, and was renamed “Jindongnan Medical College” in 1958. It was upgraded to an undergraduate college in 1986 and renamed Changzhi Medical College. In 1996, he passed the undergraduate teaching work qualification assessment; in 2004, he passed the undergraduate teaching work level assessment. In 2011, it was approved by the State Council ’s Degree Committee as a pilot unit for cultivating postgraduates with a master ’s degree in clinical medicine. In 2012, it took the lead in passing the professional certification of clinical medicine by the Ministry of Education among similar institutions in the country. In 2016, it was included in the basic capacity building projects of national midwest universities. During the 73-year course, the school inherited the red gene, fulfilled its historical mission, adhered to the fine tradition of “oriented to the grassroots, prioritized moral education,” and adhered to the school philosophy of “emphasizing quality, emphasizing practice, and emphasizing features.” The core long-term medical spirit of “Hou De Jing Yi, Ji Shi Bao Guo” has delivered nearly 50,000 outstanding medical talents to the society.

Changzhi Medical College has formed a school running pattern in which medical science, engineering, liberal arts, science, education, management, and art interpenetrate and coordinated development. It has established a multi-level talent training system that integrates graduate education, undergraduate education, and continuing education. There are 19 teaching colleges (departments) and 20 undergraduate majors. There are 11,678 students, including 238 postgraduates, 9814 undergraduates, and 1626 adult students. It has two campuses, the School Headquarters and Wulong Campus, covering an area of 718.93 acres, a building area of 475,800 square meters, and a total fixed asset value of 1,556 million yuan, of which 654 million yuan are teaching and scientific research equipment.

Changzhi Medical College currently has 4,677 staff members (944 at the school headquarters, 2512 at the affiliated peace hospital, and 1221 at the affiliated Heji Hospital), 791 full-time teachers, 1232 master degree teachers, 155 doctoral degree teachers, and senior staff. There are 414 teachers with professional titles. There are 252 postgraduate tutors for master’s degree in clinical medicine, and 98 part-time postgraduate tutors. The internal medicine teaching team is a national teaching team, and the pharmacological teaching team is an excellent provincial teaching team.

Changzhi Medical College has two national specialty specialty construction sites and two brand specialty programs in Shanxi province, four specialty specialty programs in Shanxi province, and two specialty specialty programs in Shanxi province; one national quality resource sharing course, five provincial excellent courses, and 4 excellent quality resource sharing courses; 1 first batch of key laboratories in Shanxi universities, 7 demonstration laboratories in Shanxi Province, and 1 provincial virtual simulation experiment center. It has 2 A-level affiliated hospitals, 9 non-affiliated hospitals, and more than 100 practical teaching bases. The specialty of clinical medicine is the pilot program of comprehensive reform of the “Undergraduate Teaching Project” of the Ministry of Education. In 2011, the school was approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health to become the first batch of pilot universities in the country for outstanding doctor education training programs. Clinical medicine is the dominant characteristic discipline of Shanxi “1331 Project”; internal medicine is the key construction discipline of Shanxi Province; “Basic and Clinical Research of Gastrointestinal Tumor” team is the key innovation team of Shanxi “1331 Project”; “Integrated prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal tumor” Discipline Group “is the service industry innovation discipline group in Shanxi Province. In the past five years, the school has undertaken a total of 417 scientific research projects, including 8 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and 185 provincial and ministerial research projects. Published 2749 papers, 299 of which were indexed by SCI; teachers published 162 academic monographs.

Changzhi Medical College has continuously strengthened foreign cooperation and exchanges, and has selected 71 people to visit abroad for training, academic exchanges. It has established friendly cooperative relations with universities, medical and scientific research institutions in the United States, Britain, France, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Montenegro and other countries. At the same time, cooperation memorandums of understanding or agreements have been signed with Rockford College in the United States, Daejeon Health University in South Korea, University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom, University of Adelaide in Australia, Medical University of Montenegro, and the University of Western Australia in Australia. More than 30 important influential academic conferences and lectures were held, including the China-US International Symposium on Cardiovascular Diseases, the Taihang International Gastrointestinal Tumor Minimally Invasive Summit Forum, and the 6th International Symposium on Microtransplantation and Cellular Immunotherapy.
