Introduction to Changzhi University
Established in 1958, Changzhi University (长治学院, website) was formerly known as the Jindongnan Normal College. In 2004, the Ministry of Education approved it to be upgraded to a comprehensive full-time undergraduate college. It is a bachelor’s degree granting unit. It has jointly trained master students with Shanxi Normal University since 2012. The approved master’s degree is awarded to the right-building unit.
Changzhi University is located in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. It now covers an area of 337,000 square meters and the school building covers an area of 306,000 square meters. The college is divided into two north and south campuses, with an orderly layout and tree-lined, showing a fresh, tranquil, civilized and harmonious gardening environment. In addition, the Changzhi Municipal Government planned 250 acres of construction land on the north side of the North Campus in August 2003 with “Minutes of the Meeting [2003] 7”. The remaining acres of land are used for the construction of the new campus of the college.
Changzhi University currently has 12,689 full-time undergraduate students from 20 provinces (autonomous regions) across the country. There are 702 faculty members, 553 full-time teachers and 5 foreign teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 27 professors, 145 associate professors, 5 other associate senior titles, 75 teachers with doctorates, and 428 masters. More than 50 national outstanding teachers, “Three Jins”, provincial top talents, model teachers, teaching masters, subject leaders, young and middle-aged backbone teachers, outstanding teachers, teachers of moral standards and good teachers, and more than 70 well-known experts and scholars inside and outside the province Employed as an adjunct professor and visiting professor. Changzhi University Library has a construction area of 20823 square meters. It has a collection of 1.142 million paper documents, more than 1.54 million electronic books, 13 Chinese and foreign electronic databases, and a collection of “Siku Quanshu”, “Siku Quanshu Essentials”, Large-scale precious documents such as “Four Books” and “Shenzhen”. There are 201 teaching experiment and training rooms, 114 multimedia classrooms, 6 dance rehearsal rooms, and 118 professional piano rooms. There are standardized sports fields, sports training halls, multifunctional experimental theaters, and digital piano classrooms with terminal displays. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 125,650,400 yuan. There is a museum with more than 3,000 precious cultural relics in the Shangdang area. It has a herbarium of animals and plants, which contains more than 13,000 animal specimens and more than 10,000 plant specimens.
