Dalian Ocean University (website) is the only multi-disciplinary college in the northern part of China that is characterized by marine and aquatic disciplines and coordinated development of agriculture, engineering, science, management, literature, law, economics and art. Founded in 1952, the school was formerly known as the Northeast Aquatic Technology School. In 1958, it was upgraded to Dalian Fisheries College. In 1978, it was upgraded to Dalian Fisheries College. In 2000, it was transferred from the Ministry of Agriculture to Liaoning Province. In 2010, it was renamed Dalian Ocean University by the Ministry of Education.
The school is located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian. There are 3 campuses of Huanghai Campus, Bohai Campus and Wafangdian Campus, covering an area of 740,000 square meters. The teaching and scientific research uses a sea area of 670,000 square meters and a total construction area of 400,000 square meters. The school now has 15 colleges and 1 teaching department. There are nearly 1,200 faculty members and more than 13,600 full-time students. There are 13 master’s degree programs in the first-level disciplines, 47 master’s degree programs in the second-level disciplines, and 12 master’s degree programs in the field. The school’s subject system is perfect, and the advantages and characteristics of the discipline are obvious. The first-level discipline of aquatic products is the “double-class” construction discipline of Liaoning Province, which ranks fourth in the fourth round of discipline evaluation of the Ministry of Education. Dalian Ocean University’s scientific and technological innovation capabilities continue to increase.
