Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University (JXSTNU), is located in Nanchang, a famous historical and cultural city. The school is a key institution of the Ministry of Education and an important base for vocational education research in the country. It mainly trains teachers, general teachers and other applied high-level professionals.
History of Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University
Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University was formerly known as Nanchang College. The university started in 1952. The predecessor of the university was the Nanchang Branch of Jiangxi Teachers College founded in 1977. In 1984, it was renamed as Nanchang Teachers College. In 2002, it was renamed as Jiangxi Science and Technology Teachers College. In 2012, the school was renamed Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University.
Majors and Faculty
Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University is a newly-established doctoral degree-granting unit in Jiangxi Province, and is also a master’s degree authorized unit. The University has 13 master’s programs, including education, design, chemistry, Chinese language and literature, electronic science and technology, materials science and engineering, business administration, music and dance, fine arts, Marxist theory, mathematics, biology, Management Science and Engineering and Physical Education. The university awards 10 master’s degrees including: Master of Education, Master of Tourism Management, Master of Arts, Master of International Business, Master of Physical Education, Master of Chinese International Education, Master of Translation, Master of Materials and Chemicals, Master of Pharmacy, Master of Business Administration. The university has 63 undergraduate enrollment programs covering 11 disciplines including education, science, engineering, management, art, economics, philosophy, literature, history, law, and medicine. It has one of the top 1% of the ESI world (chemistry) and one of the first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province (education). One of the “Twelfth Five-Year” high-level disciplines (design studies) and the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” key first-level disciplines (education, chemistry). It has 2 professional construction points with national characteristics (applied chemistry, tourism management), 18 provincial-level specialties and brand majors, and 7 provincial-level first-class professional construction sites in 2018.
Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University now has Fenglin Campus and Hongjiaozhou Campus, covering an area of 2,162 mu and a school building area of 686,500 square meters. The university has 1,665 faculty members, 1,142 doctoral and master’s degree teachers, and 551 master’s supervisors. Since the establishment of the school, more than 120,000 graduates have been trained, which has made positive contributions to the economic and social development of Jiangxi. At present, there are more than 24,000 students, including 20062 undergraduates and 1210 graduate students. The team members of the University Aerobics Team won the first world gold medal in China’s aerobics program on behalf of the national team. Participated in the Internet + College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for three consecutive years in the forefront of Jiangxi Province.
Vocational Education Base
In 2000,Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University was designated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as the national key construction vocational education teacher training base. It was approved by the Jiangxi Provincial Government and the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education as the Jiangxi Provincial Teacher Training Training Center and the quality of teachers in Jiangxi Vocational Colleges. The planned mid-term project management office and the Jiangxi Province teacher qualification interview are directly under the management office of the test center. As of May 2019, the training base has organized 97 training sessions of various levels and various types of teachers, and trained 11,884 teachers. It has been approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance for the Quality Improvement of Teachers in Vocational Colleges. There are 5 professional training (training) standards, training (training) programs, core courses and featured textbook development projects, and 7 professional teacher training training professional points construction projects.
Foreign Exchange
Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University insists on opening up schools and actively cooperates and exchanges with the state (outside the country). It is a scholarship for the Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarships for international students. It also has the qualifications for recruiting students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The school has established friendly and cooperative relations with more than 50 universities in more than 20 countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, and has carried out cooperation and exchange projects such as cooperation in running schools, mutual recognition of credits, mutual visits of teachers, student exchanges, and academic research. At present, there are four undergraduate majors in financial management, tourism management, preschool education, and visual communication design. The school has long hired foreign teachers, well-known experts and scholars to teach and give lectures, and selected teachers from the school to study, teach and conduct collaborative research outside the country, and encourage students to study and exchange at universities outside the country. The school actively promotes the international promotion of Chinese. In 2016, it cooperated with the Abdul Marek Al-Assad University of Morocco to open the Overseas Confucius Institute. Every year, the outstanding students of the Confucius Institute came to our school for summer camp study and cultural exchange activities. With the increase of the international influence of the school, international students from more than ten countries including Russia, Pakistan, Madagascar, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Benin and Equatorial Guinea have been invited to study in our school.
Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University has also held several sessions of youth cultural exchanges between China, the United States, China, Japan and the Taiwan Straits. Vocational education delegations in Europe, Africa, South America and Oceania have also come to the school for exchanges and cooperation projects.
