Job Summary
We are looking for enthusiastic teaching professionals to join our team in Chengdu full-time. Teaching comprises of a range of subjects including applied English skills, general study skills, academic writing, and critical thinking skills, all to prepare students for success in their undergraduate degree courses. Details of Position
This is a full-time teaching position with a maximum of 20 teaching periods a week (Monday to Friday). Each teaching period is 40 minutes of class time. In addition to teaching hours, each teacher has weekly office hours when students can come and ask questions and will act as an Academic Mentor to a selection of students on the programme.
We have two 12-week semesters per year, followed by a face-to-face assessment period and several weeks of marking. All of our assessments are marked electronically, with different teachers on the same module second marking a portion of each other’s work to ensure consistency.
Qualifications
If you have several years of full-time relevant teaching experience, with a master’s degree and/or a CELTA being desirable, then we’d love to hear from you. Normally, non-native English-speaking candidates would have an IELTS 7.5 or equivalent.
Salary and Benefits
The starting salary for a Foundation Year Teacher is 16,630 RMB per month, and for a Senior Foundation Year Teacher this is 18,760 RMB per month. A housing allowance of 2,500 RMB per month is provided for international staff, as well as an annual flight allowance and visa cost reimbursement.
We offer all full-time staff the opportunity to study for a fully funded Postgraduate Certificate in International Education (PGCIE), and staff can also apply to complete a full MA in Education. All staff hold individually negotiated development plans, regular peer observations are done throughout the semesters and various continual professional development sessions are organised in-house or with external speakers throughout the year.
