Position Title: MS Mathematics Teacher
Position Description
GUIS seeks a knowledgeable, passionate and collaborative educator to join its middle school team. The selected individual will teach five sections of Middle School Math over a two-day block schedule arrangement. GUIS has adopted the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. The School employs a standards-based assessment and reporting scheme. Candidates with a commitment to middle school philosophy, pedagogies, and social-emotional development are strongly encouraged to apply.

Overall Responsibilities
* Promote positive and productive relationships and communication between colleagues, and other stakeholders.
* Support and model the GUIS mission
* Using the norms of collaboration to co-plan with colleagues who are teaching the same subject, and/or with EAL specialists.
* Use individual planning time to create scaffolds and supports to make content accessible and provide challenge to students at a range of English proficiency levels
* Deliver lessons in the assigned subject area(s) ensuring language is integrated and developed alongside content skills and knowledge
* Interpret data from both formal and informal assessments to improve student’s content language growth
* Facilitate Advisory throughout the week
* Offer after-school activities during the three trimesters
* Provide Office Hours support before and after school
* Provide intervention support to students identified by Student Response System
* Other responsibilities as assigned by the middle school principal

Qualifications:

The middle school Math teacher must be qualified as follows:
* holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mathematics or in education
* holds relevant teaching experience in a middle school or similar setting
* holds or be eligible for state or provincial teacher certification/licensure

Please note that due to visa restrictions, GUIS cannot employ teachers who are 60 years or older on the first day of the initial contract with the school.
