Applications are invited for appointment as Professor of Practice/Associate Professor of Practice (several posts) in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 531667), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, MD, or DrPH in a related discipline. At Associate Professor rank, applicants should possess:
- Experience working in academic institutions, international health/ development agencies, ministries or consultancy firms, governmental organizations, NGOs or related institutions;
- A strong record of teaching and student mentoring, along with evidence of curriculum development and leadership;
- documented impact in professional service, leadership in partnership, and innovation in methods of service;
- innovation in methods for knowledge exchange, or broad recognition for excellence in translational activity and growing network for strategic development of the School;
Applicants with more experience and a distinguished track record recognized at international level may be considered for the position of Professor of Practice.
Applicants should demonstrate readiness to integrate public health perspectives for interprofessional training of students in undergraduate and post-graduate degree programmes such as global health and development, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and Chinese medicine. They should exhibit ability to design and teach new courses, develop competency-based curricula for educational programmes, supervise teaching practices, support interdisciplinary translational activities, and supervise capstone or placement projects.
The appointees will contribute to the scholarly implementation of public health interventions at the population level. This includes contributions to managing and leading health organizations like hospitals, health departments and health NGOs. They should also build the capacity of the public health workforce by teaching mid-career or pre-career trainees and contribute methods to assess the impact of capacity development. The appointees will be instrumental in supporting strategic development of the School including providing Executive Education and Leadership Training to healthcare professionals in the region, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and integration within the School, and fostering international partnerships.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
