Anchor/Reporter for CGTN Sports Scene
*This position is based in Beijing and is only open to foreign passport holders*
Location: Beijing, China
Full-time: 12-month renewable contract
About the job
The Sports Scene Anchor/Reporter conducts research, writes, produces, edits and anchors sports news programs. They spend time in the field covering events, and execute news reporting and interviews for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers. They possess an engaging on-air presence and comprehensive knowledge of sports and sports related activities.
A critical part of this role is to produce high quality editorial work (including writing and copy editing news scripts, etc.) whilst maintaining CGTN standards for journalistic integrity and production quality. The Sports Scene Anchor/Reporter has a solid contacts list which they continuously maintain and add to.
Key Responsibilities:
● Work closely with the sports team to develop comprehensive sports coverage.
● Host Sports Scene shows and assist in other shows as required.
● Conduct news reports and exclusive in-field and in-studio interviews.
● Perform active live shots in the field or studio as assigned by the producer.
● Write, voice and copy edit compelling sports news scripts. Film and edit news videos when needed.
● Support and champion all CGTN platforms and programs.
● Consistently and positively engages with the audience to increase Sports Scene’s social media footprint.
● Complete other tasks assigned by superiors.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Native English speaker with a valid passport.
● Solid experience in the media industry.
● Significant interview, reporting and hosting experience working in sports news with comprehensive knowledge of sports and sports related fields.
● Strong “in-the-field and live” skills.
● Experience producing and loading digital content that engages the audience and increases followers.
● A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or English preferred.
