Job Description
Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the School of Innovation (Ref.: 531810), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
The School of Innovation has been newly established by the University to provide interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary education in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship. The School will offer both undergraduate and taught postgraduate programs. Information about the School can be obtained from https://i-school.hku.hk/.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Science or a related field, and should demonstrate a strong track record in both teaching and leading research programs in interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary projects. They should have a proven ability to translate research results into tangible impacts, such as establishment of start-up companies, industrial adoption of research results, measurable societal impacts, or influencing government policies. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in sustainable future cities development, marine ecology and innovations, healthy aging, and human-AI cocreation. Applicants with exceptional experience in other interdisciplinary areas are also encouraged to apply.
The appointee is expected to play a key role in the strategic development of the School, driving next-generation activities in teaching, research, and innovation across the interdisciplinary domains of science, technology, engineering, design and entrepreneurship.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
