Job Overview
The University Guidance Counselor will provide expert support in preparing students for their post-secondary education pathways. This role involves offering personalized guidance on university applications, career planning, and academic development, helping students achieve their higher education goals and navigate the complexities of the application process.

Key Responsibilities
• Counseling and Guidance: Advise students on academic planning, university application processes, scholarship opportunities, and career pathways, ensuring alignment with students’ individual strengths, interests, and goals.
• University Application Process: Support students through each stage of the application process, including selecting universities, preparing application documents, managing deadlines, and preparing for interviews.
• Standardized Testing Support: Provide information and preparation resources for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and IELTS. Offer guidance on test registration and coordinate preparation sessions if needed.
• Workshops and Seminars: Organize workshops on application writing, resume building, interview skills, and other relevant areas to equip students for university and career success.
• Parental Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents regarding university planning, application timelines, and students’ progress, fostering a supportive network for student success.
• Resource Management: Develop and maintain resources, including guides, handouts, and access to digital tools that support university and career planning.
• Professional Development: Stay updated with trends in global higher education, including requirements and changes in popular universities, to provide relevant and current advice.

Skills and Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Education Counseling or a related area is preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience in university counseling or academic advising, ideally within an international school context.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of North American, European, and other major international university admissions processes.
• Skills:
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and faculty.
o Organizational skills for managing multiple timelines, applications, and resources.
o Proficient in digital tools for university applications and information management.
• Characteristics: Adaptable, empathetic, and committed to supporting students’ academic and personal development.
